Holidays to River Nile-luxor

Nile River Cruises and Holidays in Egypt. The River Nile cruises give the tourists a peek into the Egyptian village life. The countryside, still very ancient in the way that people live in clay huts, plough fields manually and use animal pulled carts as vehicles, can be viewed first hand by the passengers while sunbathing on the deck of a cozy ship while on a River Nile cruise.

Herodotus's statement "Egypt is a gift of the Nile" is as true today as it was when spoken so long ago. there is no better way to trace the course of Egyptian history than to follow the course of the Nile. the river has been Egypt's lifeline for millenniums, fertilising the narrow strip of land along its bank with a deposit of silt after each annual inundation - now controlled by the High Dam at Aswan. this timeless river, that flows north from the Cataracts in Aswan to Luxor, once the ancient playground of the pharaohs, and on towards Cairo and the Mediterranean Sea, continues to give life to this cradle of civilisation. It is as enthralling now as it ever was, its banks littered with ancient monuments and tombs built by nobles and pharaohs to immortalize themselves.
Along her banks, village scenes today have changed little since biblical times. Her modern day people are warm, friendly, generous, intelligent and fiercely proud of everything this wonderful country has to offer. At the end of every year, Egyptians are eager to hear good news about the water level in the River Nile. In 1994 the volume of inlet water was considered high. In the High Dam Lake, water reached its highest ever level.

The River Nile is the longest river in the world. It is 4180 miles long, or 6484 kilometres. the source of the Nile is in Lake Victoria, Uganda, near the town of Jinja. the water takes three months to reach the Mediterranean Sea!
