The area itself consists of two villages; the Bedouin village of El Assalah occupies the southern half and towards the north, El Qura Bay, where internationally known hotels, business and administrative centres are located. Between these two areas lie a maze of streets full of character and lined with colourful market shops where bartering for a bargain is the order of the day! Follow the roads down to the surprising seafront promenade where you can take your pick of the bars, restaurants and cozy shisha cafes. Dahab is a focus of tourism development, with swaying palms, fine sand and wonderful snorkeling opportunities. Dahab has a variety of dive sites including the Blue Hole and the Canyon. Towards the Israeli border is the Island of Coral, where the Crusaders built a fort of which the remains can still be seen today.
